Melissa feels very blessed to have this opportunity to coach and share her knowledge and love of volleyball to young athletes. Volleyball has always been a huge part of her life and she is very excited to now be on the other side, coaching the game. This will be Melissa’s first year coaching club. She has several years of experience with instructing and teaching youth/adolescence in different sports and being able to be a role model for them. Each summer Melissa volunteers at a summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings. Her role there is to coach them, be their mentor and make sure that they have a great time at volleyball camp. “That experience has opened my eyes and heart up so much more, and made me realize how much I do want to be a mentor for youth and adolescence, and help them continue growing in a positive way. “
Melissa went to Belhaven University in Jackson, MS. for volleyball and played her freshman year (2008-2009). She decided to move back to Texas that summer after an injury. She is currently going to school for Exercise Sports Science with all levels of Education and getting a Minor in Health at Texas State University- San Marcos. “I am determined and focus with anything that I commit to and look forward to putting my knowledge and heart into coaching these girls at Texas Fury.”
