Gene believes coaching youth volleyball starts with disciplined ‘teaching by example’
to help our young athletes strive for their full potential. Genes’ philosophy of
coaching the younger ages has an emphasis on providing a positive environment in which
they learn the fundamantals of the game, the technical execution of each skill set and
utilize this understanding to come together as a team. Although hard work and dedication
are expected, Gene strives for each team member to enjoy the game, gain self confidence
while contributing to the team and to take something positive away from each playing
experience.

A native of Austin, Gene and his wife, Beth, have two daughters; the eldest graduated from
North Texas in 2007 and the youngest is a sophmore at Baylor. Gene is employed by a global
high tech software firm.
